On Friday, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao announced that her department has identified “a number of issues” regarding air travel in China, including a number of “human factors” that could result in “safety issues.”
The department’s final decision on whether to make a change to the country’s airport regulations will be made in September.
Chao’s announcement comes after she told a crowd of airline employees that air travel was “a human endeavor.”
“The United States is not going to be an island nation anymore,” Chao said.
“We have to get out of the way.”
